Honda's Japan Production Levels
Honda will be resuming operations at domestic car factories on Monday at about half of normal output. Honda expects to be running at full speed in 2-3 months. Honda is expecting an output drop of 58 000 units and they will be making up for the lost output by running plants longer than usual when they resume full operations. Overseas, factories in the U.S. and UK have been running at half levels or reduced rates. Honda was able to restart development activities earlier last week when it moved its Tochigi personnel to other areas unaffected by the tsunami + earthquake in Japan. Development and testing are behind schedule from 2 weeks to a month, all fiscal year projects will not be affected.
