Combined November sales of 10,876 units by the Honda and Acura divisions represented a 22% increase over last year's sales. The Honda Automobile Division reported November sales of 9,427 units, up 19% from last year. Honda's November sales increase was bolstered by record Fit sales, up 249% over last year, in addition to a 57% increase in Odyssey sales. The Acura Division reported November sales of 1,449 units, a 54% increase over last year, led by a 93% increase in sales of both Acura TSX and the Canadian-built MDX.
"We are encouraged by steadily increasing vehicle sales in the Canadian market, which shows that market conditions are experiencing gradual but continuing signs of recovery," said Jerry Chenkin, executive vice president of Honda Canada Inc. "With our year-to-date sales now ahead of last year, we believe we have turned the corner toward sustained growth. We continue in our commitment to provide excellent value with all our Honda and Acura products for Canadians."
Honda Canada Inc. has sold more than 3,375,000 Honda and Acura passenger cars and light-duty trucks in Canada over the past 37 years. A record high 91 per cent of the Honda and Acura vehicles sold in Canada in 2009 were produced at the company's assembly plants in North America, up nearly 3 per cent from 2008.
