News - Honda Civic Type-R to be released in Japan

The U.S. has long been unable to get Type-R models, in fact we've never even had one model go on sale over here, and to put it in words, that is terribly shameful. Whilst in the UK, they've been all sorts of Type-R models, as well as in Japan. But one model that is lacking in Japan, is the 3-door Civic Type-R (currently Honda only sells the 4-door Civic Type-R sedan over there). And Honda will be rectifying that early next year, by introducing the 3-door Type-R model to the Japanese. It will be built and made in ... Swindon, England, arriving to Japan by boat. The Type-R gets a 2.0-liter i-VTEC four cylinder powerplant with a 7,800 rpm power peak and six-speed gearbox. Honda rates the 0-62 mph acceleration at 6.6 seconds with a 146 mile per hour terminal velocity. Inside, the front occupants are ensconced in some serious sport seats bolstered in Alcantara suede. Yeah, I know, we're seriously missing out.
