News - Cash for Clunkers, a Honda success
Consumers who traded in their “clunkers” for a more fuel-efficient vehicle through the government’s popular rebate program turned most often to the Toyota Corolla, but new federal data show Honda vehicles were a popular pick as well. 690114 new cars were sold through the Cash for Clunkers program along with $2.88 billion in rebate applications submitted. In 2nd place to the Corolla was the Honda Civic, the Honda Accord was 8th, while the Honda Fit was 9th. Honda, along with Toyota were the only 2 automakers that had 2+ in the top 10 popular buys from the CFC. Honda was the manufacturer of about 13 percent of all new vehicles purchased with the help of the program’s rebates, falling behind Toyota, General Motors and Ford.
