Honda Broke Ground on New Engine Plant in Japan

Honda held a groundbreaking ceremony yesterday to mark the start of construction of its new engine plant in Ogawa, Saitama Prefecture, Japan. The new plant is scheduled to start production in 2009 with a yearly capacity of about 200,000 units. The engines produced at the new plant will be both supplied to domestic and global markets. Honda also says that it is working to establish possible production systems and capabilities with advanced environmental features, which will also enable Honda to flexibly respond to any future increase in demand. Honda is also building a new automobile plant in Yorii, Japan, which is scheduled to start its production by 2010.
