Honda C-RV

The only trim difference from the Japanese CRV to the American CRV is that there is a extra added mirror at the front of the car on the left side like other Japanese SUVs.

Mugen Honda Legend

The company MUGEN usually adds on sport details to Honda vehicles making them look faster. On this Honda Legend model, MUGEN has add stuff like 19" wheels, front/side/rear skirts, chrome front/side/rear swipes and probably upgraded the engine.

Honda Legend

The Acura RL is called the Honda Legend in Japan. The Legend only has a different front grille compared to its American counterpart. The Legend is Honda's flagship model like the RL is Acura's flagship. Many of Japanese's auto magazines give the Honda RL very high praise.

Honda MDX

This is basically a Acura MDX with different tailamps and different colour interior. There is an extra front mirror adding to the window mirror that is common in all Japanese SUVs.

Honda Civic (Japanese)

This Japanese Civic is a more upscale than the North American Civic because it has leather, woodgrain, navigation w/ DVD and more. There are a different front and rear ends, revised seating material and a slightly altered dashboard compared to the North American Civic. Otherwise it is the same. This model is also sold only in Canada as the Acura CSX.

Honda H-RV five-door

This is the Honda HR-V five-door. It is sold in two models: JS and JS4. The Honda HR-V has since been ceased from all markets.

Honda Integra

The Acura RSX is sold in Japan as the Integra and is only available in two models: Type-S and Type-R (model shown). Honda is not sending sport models across the ocean because of the high trading prices recently. The Integra has the same RSX features except for the Type-R engine which is around the 240 hp mark. Too bad Honda can't send these cars over here.

Honda Insight

Ahh the fuel mileage champ, the Honda Insight. It's expensive, little and zippy. Comfy seats, little storage space, noisy engine, poor soundproofing, high rear window, hasn't been redesigned since 2000 and thin/tiny wheels contribute to the fuel savings. Conveniences in the interior is pretty good with Automatic Climate Control, Power Windows, Power Door Locks, AM/FM/CD w/ 4 speakers, Power heated body-colour Mirrors, 4-way adjustable driver's seat and the numbered speedometer.

UPDATE: As of July 20th 2006, the Insight is no longer sold in Japanese markets. The demise of the Insight in its home market means that the Insight will also face its demise in worldwide markets in 2007.

UPDATE 2: As of 2007, the Insight is dead. But however, few specific dealers in the world may still carry just one or two new or used Insights.

Japanese Honda Accord (Acura TSX) Sedan

This is basically a North American Acura TSX but with a different grille, different interior and different models. With a North American Honda Accord interior, you can be sure that it's comfy in there. There is a range of models: 20A, 20EL, 24TL and Type S (model shown). This vehicle is sold as the Acura TSX in North America, Honda Accord in Japan, Europe and some island countries and the regular Honda Accord in North America is sold as the Accord in Australia, China and other countries.

Honda Acty Truck

The Acty Truck is basically a shortened, restyled and cut-off version of the Acty Van. The name "Acty" comes from a early 60s truck. Almost all engineering is based on the Acty Van. It is sold in parts of Japan, Asia and exported to some island countries.

Honda Acty Van

This commercial cargo/van uses the Acty name from the late 60s trucks. This is primarily used for transporting or loading goods but it can carry abundance of passengers. As usual these commercial vehicles come with a low amount of features. The Acty Van is sold only in China, Japan and used in parts of Asia.

Honda Partner Van

This is the current version of the Partner and as I said before in a post it looks very similar to when it came out in the late 90s. Sold as a commercial vehicle the Partner generated slow sales but it was reliable. I believe this is the base model judging by the black bumpers, black mirrors, black door handles, black body side mouldings and wheel covers.

Honda Fit Aria/City

This is the sedan version of the Honda Fit Hatchback which is destined for North America in April 1/2006. It is very odd-looking like a swooped swan. The rear end is mismatched and the front end looks awfully weird. But thank goodness the interior is the same from the Fit Hatchback. The sedan is sold as the Fit Aria in Asia and Japan while the City name is sold in Australia and parts of Asia.

Honda Mobilio

This good-lookin' van is very attractive to young men and young women. The Mobilio certainly is one of Honda's better looking cars and cheaper too. You can't get around the lush and smooth interior, nor the features either. The tall roof of this car makes it look like a chipmunk standing. Overall, another good car from a good company from a good market in Japan.

Honda Mobilio Spike

Why is there a California license plate on a Japanese car? Was it spotted in California? Maybe. But the Mobilio Spike is like a configurative van that configurates from a cargo van to a passenger minivan at a iffy price tag. The interior is bland unlike other Honda vehicles but there is a lot of standard features. It looks great and too bad we don't have tons of the car in North America.

Honda LIFE

This is a cute looking car that I would love to drive but it is sold in Japan only! The third-generation LIFE is a tiny car but has accomdations for five but the cargo space and the engine is tiny and soundproofing isn't too good. At a low price the LIFE is attractive. Now if Honda just brings car over to North America it will be a hit for sure.

Honda Accord (Acura TSX) Euro-R

This is Honda's Accord (Acura TSX) Euro-R sports car. Built with a Acura RSX engine for power later generations were more sophisicated than the first/second-generations. As you can see this is loaded with a front skirt, side skirts, rear skirt, black headlamps/tailamps, fog lights, black window mirroring, side turn signals on the outside and on the inside the stuff includes: sport seats, silver trim and the massive black styled wheels.

Honda That's

Honda's That's is a competitor to the Toyota Bb (Scion xB) and the Nissan Cube. After seeing them wrap up loads of money Honda decided to try to bring another box to the market. It kind of succeeded and then it didn't. As many Hondas I have posted on this website it is only sold in Japan but it would be funny to see something on our shores. The jokingly logo for this is "That's your stylist!".

Honda Edix/FRV

This is a very attractive, clean-looking, aerodynamic, and plush wagon. Designed for its 3-2-2 seating position with lots of cargo possibilities many knew this was Honda's most effective car since the 90s to hit the market as a boom. Of course it is only sold in Asia, Japan and Europe so finding one over here in the states is next to 0. Honda has made plans to possibly ship the Edix/FRV over here but the Honda Latitude (Stream) has delayed that possibility and even there is a next to 0 chance of the Edix/FRV or the Stream coming our shores.

Japanese Honda Odyssey

The Japanese Odyssey is very different from its North American counterpart because it is basically a wagon not a minivan for aerodynamic and interior purposes. The design is very sleek and the interior is loaded with leather items and woodgrain stuff. There isn't a column shifter and it also seats eight like the Elysion. The body is low so it drives like something that is holded down.

Honda Elysion

This is Honda Japan's gateway product to EXTREME luxury vans. It has its own exclusive design and platform and chassis and engine and you get the point. The interior is very plush and upscale but it is very heavy. This luxurious van seats eight comfortably which explains why its so wide and long!

Japanese Honda Accord (Acura TSX) Wagon

I would bet you haven't seen this car before. It is the Honda Accord (Acura TSX) Wagon and again is only sold in Europe and Japan. What makes this car so special is that the rear windows slope for a sporty look and the whole roof slope with it making it aerodynamic. The rear is a bit fumbly but its clean. There is also a Type-S version of the Wagon!

Honda Inspire

You may be driven to think that this is the Honda Accord but it isn't. This is the Honda Inspire (again sold only in Japan) which is Honda Japan's second flagship car (the flagship for Honda Japan is the Honda RL(Acura RL). This is basically a Accord with a different front end and a Acura TSX (Honda Accord in Japan) interior but the Honda Accord in Japan (Acura TSX) has the North American Accord interior. Basically mind-boggling work from Honda.

Honda StepWGN

The first StepWGN (StepWagon) were only sold in Japan as still are current models. It came out as a alternative to minivans but had the cargo capacity like a cargo van. The second-generation was a freshning for the first-gen StepWGN (upper picture). The third/fourth-generation (bottom picture) was a totally redesigned model and even featured wood floors! However there are many rumors that the front end of this vehicle might end up on the third-generation Honda CRV.

Honda Stream

This was Honda's answer back in the start of the new millenium to wagons. The Stream was on a Civc platform and no doubt it look like the Civic then. Although it doesn't seat seven the cargo capacities are so awesome! Power comes from a Civic engine. Honda has plans to ship the Stream to our shorelines in the name Latitude but there have been no conformation since it is still sold in Asia, Japan and Europe.

Honda Rafaga

The Rafaga is a car with the Orthia front and rear ends, Civic-like side styling and Accord-like interior. It is positioned between the Civic and the Accord and is only sold in Japan between 1993 and somewhere in the late 90s.

Honda Prelude

This is the Honda Prelude which was first introduced in 1978. The design was re-designed in 1983 which more powerful engines. This served as Honda's sports car even though the were cars such as the Chevy Corvette and the Mercedes SL that was bigger and more powerful than the Prelude. The third generation was introduced in 1988 and the fourth generation in 1992. The fourth generation (upper picture) had the worse seats, and dashboard even found on a Honda car and the price was astronomical. Later the fifth-generation in 1996 (bottom picture) was everything the fourth-generation wasn't except for the odd dashboard again! It was later knocked off as the top Honda vehicle in 2000 with the S2000 and later it died in 2002 because of slipping sales. There are rumors of a return of a Prelude in 2008/2009 but there is no conformation from Honda.

Honda Partner

The Partner wagon was introduced in 1996 in Japan as a commerical vehicle based on the Orthia/Civic Aero Deck wagon. There was a low-emissions vehicle in 1997 and the Partner came through lots of freshnings thoughout 2000, 2002 and 2004. Honda has not redesigned the Partner and it is still in the Japanese market now.

Honda Odyssey (pre 1998 and 2002 versions)

American Honda first introduced the first generation Odyssey in 1994 but unlike many other vans in North America, it was downsized in power, and size. Put onto a Accord platform with a 2.2 litre 4 cylinder making 140 hp it was barely adequate for a wagon of this size. However Honda went the other way when redesigning the Odyssey in 1999 making it one of the biggest minivans in its class with a 3.5 litre V6 making 210 hp but in Europe there was only a refreshed version of the first generation Odyssey. The Europe version continued until 2002 where sales had been slipping but the North American version was redesigned last year with a 3.5 litre V6 making 255 hp. The Japanese version of the Odyssey was only a wagon-like van because of Japan's roads. But it still probably jogs people's mind when you ask them about the first generation Odyssey. It sold so little it is rare in the market today.

Honda N-series

The first models of the N-series was introduced in 1967 and was named the N 360. This was a tiny city car that although was cramped on the inside, it was pretty comfy in the seats. There was a panorama roof that was available and there was also a Custom version which was an added on detail car but these cars were only sold in Japan. Later in 1968 Honda introduced the N 400 into parts of Europe where it looked a lot like a Mini. Two years later in 1970 Honda introduced the N 600 into parts of Europe again and later it replaced the N 400. During the period from 1967-1974 there was also a coupe version which was introduced in 1970 but replaced in 1975 with the Civic Coupe Hatchback.

Honda Logo

This was Honda's city car that was introduced in 1996 and slotted below the Honda Life which was smaller than the Civic at that time. There were a three-door model and a five-door model (pictured). Power came from a 1.3 litre engine making 66 hp. The Logo lasted until 1999 and was later replaced by the Life five-door in 2003.

Honda LN 360

This was another version of the N 360 which looked a lot like a Mini back then and it was introduced in 1967-1968 but in 1968 the name changed to LNII 360 in 1969 and LNIII 360 in 1970. It lasted until the Z series came in 1972 and the Civic CVCC in 1973.

Honda Life

Honda brought Life back to market in 1997 after it dropped the name in 1975. It was still a smaller vehicle than the Civic but with many model changes. The second generation was between 1997-1998 and another redesign in 1998 brought more changes (1998 version pictured) but it lasted until 2000 and the name was dropped again! Until 2003 where Honda brought a more futuristic looking Life to the Japan market.

Honda Life

This is the first generation Honda Life in the early 70s. This served as Honda's basic model and yet there were the Wagon/Van version which is the car on the bottom picture, truck version and Commercial van version. It was based on the Civic platform until it was dropped in 1975.

Honda Legend

You may remember the bottom picture as the Acura RL which was redesigned in 2005 with a different style but the upper picture was the Honda Legend Coupe (Acura RL Coupe in North America). Many automotive magazines critizied the Legend for its old-like handling, and styling. But sales were very good from 1985-1988, dropped immensly from 1988-1995, improved from 1995-2000 and steadily dropping from 2000-2004 but with a redesign the sales improved in 2005.

Honda LaGreat

Although this was sold as the Odyssey in North America from 1999-current, Honda sold the Odyssey as the LaGreat in Asia but its time frame only lasted from 1999-2002. It is primarily an second-generation Odyssey with more features, right-hand side steering wheel, side turn signals and a altered front end.

Honda Jazz

This was the first version of the Honda Jazz built between 1981-1984 and was sold in China, Korea and Japan. Power came from lots of different engines including a turbo, and a gasoline engine. There were many horsepower ratings depending on the transmission: 73 hp, 63 hp, 100 hp and 110 hp. This car is rarely found these days but there probably are lots of them in junkyards across Asia.

Honda Jazz

The earlier version of the Jazz between 1993-1998 was another partnership with Isuzu. This Jazz was based on the Isuzu Mu (Mysterious Utility). There is little known about this vehicle and it was only sold in Japan and parts of China.

Honda HRV

This is Honda's fun SUV that was built near the millenium with two versions: three door (pictured) and five door. Although the ride was choppy, the engine was noisy, the engine was downpowered, the seats were uncomfortable, suspension travel was limited, price was high, poor crash test ratings contributed to the slow sales at first but it acclerated through 2002 and 2003 but Honda was forced to push the three door version out of the market. Right now the HRV five door is still in the market in Japan so if you want one go and get it.

UPDATE: Honda has discontinued the HR-V in all markets but there still may be some HR-Vs left in Honda dealers lots in Japan.

Honda Domani (pre-1995 versions)

The earlier Domani unlike the later generation was based on the Accord platform not the Civic platform. The car was mainly for Asian and Japanese markets and lasted only three years prior to the redesign in 1996.

Honda Domani/Isuzu Gemini

The above picture is the Honda Domani (Japan only) which is another off-spin of the Honda Civic from 1995-2000. There was also a similar vehicle called the Acura EL which was imported to only Canada. The bottom picture is the Isuzu Gemini which again is the off-spin of the Honda Civic and it is only available in parts of Asia.

Honda Crossroad

Honda used to have a LandRover Discovery based vehicle called the Crossroad. There is not much info about this car, not even when it went out of the market.
